Workshop Day 1

Setting up the planning board and planning: Which business processes do you run in your company to process the orders?

  • 09:00 am - 09:30 am // What is infoBoard?

    Goal: 
    Get general information on the topic of planning and the software.


    Group work: Mapping the company:

    How are we organized internally?
    (Departments, workplaces, interrelationships)

    What are our working hours? (What role do they play in planning?)

    What work/tasks do we want to visualize and how?

    Getting to know the infoBoard interface and the information displayed


    Exercise 01: Production and definition of a planning board
    Please create a planning board:

    • Name: "Company_name_employee_name"
    • Duration: today - next year December
    • Line groups: 1 machine group/workstations and 1 department/employee group each
    • Lines: 3 lines each with assignment of a machine/employee name
    • Line height: predefine to value 50!
    • Schedule and name at least 2 planning objects
  • 09:55 a.m. - 10:10 a.m. // Working hours

    Objective: 
    Individualization of the calendar: working hours and working time models


    Exercise 02: Definition of the calendar
    Please define the calendar according to the following specifications:
    Working hours: 
    Monday - Thursday:
    Early (07.00-14.00) Break (12.00-12.30) Late ( 14,00-15:30)
    Note: Break is not working time!
    Friday: (07:00 - 13:00) 
    Overtime: 
    Define 2 Saturdays in December as working days and extended working hours for the last week in February:
    Late ( 07:00-16:30) and mark them in color

    Exercise 03: Define non-working times

    1. Give 2 employees each 2  weeks of vacation
    2. Schedule every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon in the interval for an apprentice as "vocational school" days off!
    3. Register monthly maintenance for 1 machine on every 1st Friday afternoon of the month!
    4. The second machine will be down for the next 3 days with immediate effect. Please schedule this as downtime.

    Exercise 04:     "Communication through color:
    Following the results from the previous group discussion:
    Everyone plans 3 more planning objects. These should have been designed beforehand and be subordinate to the company's internal use of color. So, for example:

    1. orange = planned, red = confirmed / in progress, green = completed
    2. 1 field of activity = green (e.g. drilling, programming, controlling etc.)
    3. red = very complicated / urgent, blue = normal etc.

    Enter a delivery date and move the object over it
    Create user-defined attributes:

    • Order no. 6 digits
    • Contact person 30 digits,

    Fill out the input fields in the planning object/see

    Set the labeling upright/vertical
    Fix a date agreed with the customer

    Exercise 05:
    Display the public holidays for Germany and another country in different colors on the planning board
    Move a newly defined row group to the first position

    Exercise 06:
    Create a new order in January next year
    Go back to today as quickly as possible
    Search for the order text (the one from January next year)

    Exercise 07:
    Each group creates 3 orders with 3 - 5 planning objects 
    2 more objects must be added to the group 
    A group must be printed 
    An object must be cut

  • 1:30 pm - 2:10 pm // Services / products, calculating on the planning board, filters

    Objective: 
    The participants should know the difference between services and products


    Exercise 08:
    Create two categories and associated products: e.g. as
    1. Product (with the products as production steps in [m], [kg], [l], [pcs.]) or 2. as workflow (with the products as work steps [hrs.]) and assign capacities to your employees or machines (= lines)
    Then predefine two planning objects (select product!) with capacity allocation and schedule them

  • 14:10 - 14:40 // Columns: Day subdivision: Operating time/working time/shifts

    Objective:
    The participants should be able to set the company calendar individually


    Exercise 09:
    Arrange additional working hours for next Saturday 
    Close the business between Christmas and New Year 
    Have the night shift for next Sunday start at 22:00 Organize 2 shifts daily for the month of January 
    Have the night shift for next Sunday start at 22:00.
    Add a 1/2 hour lunch break every day at 12:00-12:30 
    Müller is there for 4 hours in the morning, Meier is there for 6 hours from 12:00 
    Schulze and Huber alternate the early and late shifts every week

    Create an order with 5 operations in an Excel spreadsheet.

Workshop Day 2

Deepening, evaluation, analysis: Apply what you have learned, learn to evaluate the results and analyze the planning with the Enterprise Edition tools

    Create a personalized sample order for 500 pcs A1 to 
    500 pcs A 5 
    Schedule 3 sample orders in your color  in preview and then final.

    Supplier line Schedule a delivery Fix the order with date/fixed 
    Link this to an order on a machine to form a group 
    Enter the status on the order: Material ordered 
    Enter a reminder 2 days before the deadline 
    Material not delivered on time: Call supplier
    Unfix, postpone, re-fix 
    Material delivered: set the  status of the order to "Material delivered"

    In the copy, extend the planning period by 1 year
    Design the new planning period

    Define 2 new roles: Sales / Production 
    Give yourself a limited write permission on your planning board Plan 2 objects and write your name on them 
    See that they cannot move each other's objects On an explicit transfer line, transfer the object to the other role and write that on the object.
